He has instant rapport with everyone from grannies to small kids and his warm personality has seen him become one of Ireland's biggest CD and DVD sellers as well as also becoming one of the most popular "live"acts in the country.
Richie will launch his new 14 track Album at the National & World Ploughing Championships 2006 on 27th 28th 29th & 30th September Venue: Grangeford, Tullow, Co. Carlow, Richies Home County
He will be performing live each day on the field
"A GREAT DAY FOR THE WASHING" featuring 'THE PODGE AND RODGE SONG'1 "A Great Day For The Washing'' Richie sang this song on the RTÉ documentary Townlands, The Richie Kavanagh Story, which was broadcast Wednesday 12th July 2006 at 7pm on RTE One. He got a great response to the Song from his fans around the country so much so that he decided to make it the title track of his new Album.
2 ''The Podge And Rodge Song'' Have you seen Podge and Rodge? Their so topical that Richie just had to write a song about them... Their Irelands favorite characters.
3 "Pulling Their Wire'' A Fun Song set in the early fifties when Gangs of ESB Men arrived in Rural Ireland to put up poles and string wires across the fields to bring us the 'electric' Light.
4 "A Lovely Great big Field A Beet'' Richie has great memories of working in the beet fields as a chap and tinning the beet during the summer holidays. He was very sad this year when the sugar factory closed down, so he wrote this little song.
5 "The Undertaker'' A Humorous song about the Undertaker. "The Undertaker is the nicest man here in the Town'' "Cause he'd be the last Man for ta let you down'
6 "The Auld Stepping Stones'' This Song is about the lovely old stepping stones that are laid out across the river in Rathnagera so people can step across to the other side without getting their feet wet.
7 "Bailing Bailing Twine'' Another Humorous song about a bit a Bailing Twine. Farmers use it for tying bales of hay and straw but a bit a Bailing Twine can be use for many jobs as you will find out when you listen to the Song.
8 "Up On Ballon Hill'' There was a dancing board on top of Ballon Hill that drew capacity crowds in the late 30s and early 40s. This is a Song Richie hopes to make into a video from old film taken at the time.
9 "The Johnny Tracey Song'' Last year Johnny celebrated half a century of ploughing having competed in his first ploughing match in 1955 at the age of 13. To his credit Johnny has six senior All-Ireland titles and one Under-28 All-Ireland title. In addition to this he has competed in eight world championships and was a runner up in four of these.
10 "From the top a Mount Leinster'' Mount Leinster is Richie's favorite place. Its also the highest mountain in Carlow and Wexford. The best access to Mount Leinster is to drive to the Nine Stones. This is a song about, What life was like at the foot of Mount Leinster, When Richie was a little Chap.
11 "The Norman Wisdom Song' When Richie was a little chap in the late fifties local shopkeeper Tommy Hogan decided to bring Hollywood to Garryhill by converting his old disused cow house into a cinema. It was there every Sunday Richie would go with his little tanner/sixpence in his hand to see The Norman Wisdom Comedy films. Norman really caught Richie's imagination. His hilarious comedy antics on the screen inspired Richie to write and perform his own comedy sketches.
12 "Tinker and the Guard'' Richie likes to write and perform his own comedy sketches. This is a very funny one about a Tinker and a Guard on a crossroads. "And Thats The Truth''
13 "Follow Me Up To Carlow" This is a very old Song. Traditional Arranged by Richie Kavanagh.
14 "A Foot And A Half" Doing what he likes best. Another Humorous bit of Comedy from the man himself.
