CELTIC TIGER is Michael Flatley's new and powerful 90-minute arena-scale dance spectacular portraying the Spirit of Ireland through its history. The show marks the return of Michael Flatley as a choreographer and dancer with his masterful solo performances punctuating this dramatic production. A cast of 60 dancers, excelling in the art of precision, skill and movement, take Michael Flatley's CELTIC TIGER to a new level of performance.

The first act takes audiences on a journey from the Druids and the arrival of St. Patrick to Ireland's Renaissance after hundreds of years of occupation by the Normans. Then comes the arrival of the British, the Great Famine and finally the Irish Rebellion of 1916 and the resurgence of the Celtic Spirit. The second half of the show brings scenes of modern Ireland to life and the rise of an independent and prosperous nation.

With the symbolic use of the Celtic Tiger, a phrase that was coined to symbolize the new Economic Ireland, Michael Flatley sets out to dramatize the essence of being Irish through the use of powerful imagery, dynamic music and dancing that once again pushes the boundaries of traditional Irish dance as a dynamic art form. CELTIC TIGER has been described as a highly charged innovative show with breathtaking special effects making it not quite a stage show and not quite a film but uniquely somewhere in between.

ABOUT THE MUSIC A sweeping epic dramatic work that ranks as one of the best scores ever to accompany a stage show or movie. All of Ronan Hardiman's trademarks are evident-beautiful melodies, exquisite arrangements and the usual passion and energy-but what is most striking is the incredible diversity of styles in which Hardiman seems to effortlessly switch between. "That was the most exciting part of this project - the variety of themes that were going to be dealt with dramatically. The first half of the show re-enacts various landmark Irish historical events such as 'The Famine' sequence and `The Vikings' sequence.The second half is more contemporary thematically, and is a celebration of the emigrant Irish population in America-the diverse cultural influences to which they were exposed,and the influence they themselves had. 'A New World' is a good example-it's a six minute sequence which changes style every 40 or so. The music had to seamlessly switch from Latino, to Jazz to Hip Hop to Flamenco-even Ballet is included! I remember quite a few very late nights and early mornings working on that particular sequence".
Twelve magnificent highlights from this ground breaking score are included on the CD. "I am very proud of this score-I believe it contains some of the best music I have ever composed.It has been a privilege to work once again with Michael Flatley on what I am sure is going to be the biggest phenomenon yet!" says Hardiman.
